I’m a neophyte… but one can dream :) 13:07:36 From Sam Freedenberg : Finally finished Session 1 and already started Session 2. 13:07:47 From Gabrielle : W: I’ve got a computer again! So I’m back at 100% working on my website. 13:07:49 From Phillip : W My win has been just getting underway. I’ve been at this for a while, but not really serious. 13:07:50 From John Fisher : W: I finally finished the first session of the program. 13:08:04 From Scott Geesey : Just signed up two days ago, only did the intro session 13:08:05 From vickigiuggio : W: I finally conquered the process of using SquareSpace to the extent that I got my website submitted to you yesterday for content review. WOO HOO! 13:08:15 From Sarah : W: Going through the first Session on positioning was a great exercise for me - this was exactly what I needed to think through to help me focus! 13:08:30 From Chris Seraidaris : W: I completed the first three training sessions 13:08:40 From Laird Raymond : W: I think I finally figured out LinkedIn. At least 90% LOL… Joined a few groups . 13:09:04 From cbeck : W: Spoke today with my friend who owns a B&B and mentioned a web site and she seemed interested. 13:09:14 From Scott Geesey : W: with the insanity of the world right now, signing up for this series is a win, getting the courage to take the leap 13:09:15 From Daniel Lona : I sent a warm email last week to a distant contact last week and while she couldn’t afford me at the moment, she set up a call with me to get to know each other. She said she could use me in the fall when she does the next launch for her membership program. 13:09:56 From mariana : W: I managed to finish and translate an article while my 3 kids were playing outside (And finally enrolling to this course after 2 years of thinking about it!) 13:11:47 From Phillip : W Currently on session 2. Rewriting my existing site on Generate Press. 13:14:26 From Matt S : W: I'm using the work from home time to finish several courses I started that will help my consulting/writing business 13:15:15 From Scott Geesey : Just curious if I'm the oldest person here, will turn 57 shortly. Is this more of a young person's game? 13:15:57 From Sam Freedenberg : Not even close, Scott. 13:15:59 From vickigiuggio : Nope, Scott! :) 13:16:07 From Scott Geesey : Good to know!! 13:16:10 From cbeck : I am 72, retired for 2 years and eager to get back in the game. 13:16:40 From Chris Seraidaris : Hey Scott, I'm in my mid 60's transitioning from technical writing, and I'm ready to Kick Ass on this course! 13:16:42 From Laird Raymond : 59 years young. 13:16:43 From Phillip : Having too many irons in the fire is what kept me on the sidelines for about 3 years. Too much training and not enough doing. 13:17:09 From Scott Geesey : Dang I might be the YOUNGSTER here!! 13:17:40 From Sam Freedenberg : 66 — looking for a new, and more portable career. 13:19:15 From cbeck : I: Still on Session 1. I have done some of this before, but trying to crystallize. 13:19:22 From mariana : I´m doing session 1, but I already have my webpage and had one client last year, before baby 3 13:19:53 From Laird Raymond : I: Session 5. Website completed except for Bio Page but it can wait while I focus on LinkedIn engagement to send my first warm email. 13:19:55 From Scott Geesey : I; just starting but the warm email idea got my interest 13:22:19 From Sarah : Q: In the positioning exercise, I created 5 differentiator / benefit statements. Would the starter value statement just use one of those? 13:22:29 From Gabrielle : Q: Looking at other sites I’ve noticed that a lot of people (in this programme and otherwise) don’t have samples pages on their websites. These people also seem to be much more experienced in writing for their target audience than I am - plainly stating their years of experience in industry. I know Ed encourages us to have one but I’m wondering now if it might make me seem amateurish? Particularly since they’re not in the B2B sphere. 13:22:33 From Scott Geesey : Q: I've seen TONS of writing job openings on LinkedIn, AWAI jobs board, elsewhere. Virtually none seem to fit my exact background but some look interesting. Is it a waste to even reach to some of those openings? Do most stick to their exact background requests or does "going fishing" sometimes pay off? 13:24:36 From Daniel Lona : Q: I have a question about following up with solid prospects after the first email doesn’t get a response. The program suggests offering another point of distinction you didn’t mention in the first email. But I don’t feel like I have much new to mention that’s not in my original email because I’m still a new writer. Could I make a new offer instead? For instance, if I mention a free strategy call in the first email, can I suggest a 20-minute, free website copy review as the thing “I forgot to mention?” 13:24:49 From cbeck : Q: I have 36 years experience in Software Development, ERP Programming, Report Development, User Training and 26 years with an Animal Feed Company. I think my positioning will be Front and Back Office Technology (although that might be a little narrow). Should I also position in Animal Feed? 13:27:29 From Chris Seraidaris : Q: Would you recommend some outstanding B2B Copywriter websites for us to take a look at? 13:36:02 From mariana : Q: I submitted my question because I thought I would not make it, but here it is again: I write in English and Spanish. My target client normally can read only English or only Spanish. I write a blog and share content on LinkedIn, FB and twitter. How do I address both types of followers? Do I have to do everything double? I write about scientific and medical issues, English is the language of science, most Spanish speaking clients need products in English and can not understand when I post in English, they feel they are missing something. Sometimes I feel like I have a mission to translate scientific knowledge to a Spanish speaking community in a non-scientific language (but there are not many clients here, so I prioritise English). 13:39:59 From Scott Geesey : Understood, sounds good 13:44:47 From cbeck : This is farm animal feed. 13:47:14 From cbeck : Very helpful!! 13:52:17 From Phillip : Q How do I modify my current website that is currently live without messing it up before I settle on what I really want? 14:02:35 From Sarah : V: It's nice to hear everyone else's questions and know that I'm not doing this alone. It was really helpful to speak with Susan and help hone in on what I'm trying to do as well. Thank you Susan! 14:03:57 From mariana : I like the way Susan answers the questions and how she talks, she takes time with each of us and is relaxed. It calms me as well! Thanks 14:04:45 From Sam Freedenberg : V: The whole process of positioning. It’s like applying a sales funnel to your own background. 14:06:07 From Gabrielle : V: The website talk! 14:06:51 From Matt S : Q: (I haven't yet gone thru the web training module). Is there a diplomatic way on our website to describe our ideal clients (and screen out clients who won't be a good fit)? For example, we like to work with collaborative clients, who value writing, (who aren't looking for "cheap" writing), etc.? 14:07:01 From vickigiuggio : V: These calls are instrumental for momentum- even when I have no specific Qs in any given week. Keeps me on track. Admission: I cheat and submit to what I call “procrastination projects” now and then, but much less than if I wasn’t doing this program! 14:09:00 From Scott Geesey : V: agree, the website talk and ideas 14:13:00 From vickigiuggio : Ha Ha - RE: procrastination. At least tweaking website is semi-relevant… I made a sign to hang on my fire escape, thanking NYC heroes…. That killed a day. 14:13:29 From vickigiuggio : Omg thanks! It’s still beta.. 14:16:49 From Matt S : Okay, that makes sense. Thanks Susan! I'm doing a pro bono project right now. 14:17:23 From trudyblack : Q: What about writing articles in your chosen field for online magazines my direction is in the transportation field 14:18:02 From Scott Geesey : Just curious Matt, what is the pro bono project? 14:18:13 From Scott Geesey : Looking for examples... 14:18:51 From vickigiuggio : The last sentence is a technical mistake…. Btw! 14:18:52 From Matt S : Scott, I've worked in the tech industry, and am currently helping a solo tech consultant improve his marketing messages and website 14:19:12 From mariana : De Chris Seraidaris para mí: (En privado) (08:02 p. m.)
V: Mindset, not age, is the differentiating factor for success in this course. V: Look for direct competitors for the target market you are pursuing. 14:19:12 From Scott Geesey : Understood 14:20:51 From trudyblack : I’ve been driving truck and training for 25 years 14:24:10 From Matt S : A: Finish up the positioning module 14:24:20 From Sarah : A: Finishing my starter value statements and starting Session 2! 14:24:29 From Gabrielle : A: Keep working on my website. 14:24:30 From Scott Geesey : A: get through sessions 1 and 2 in the next week. The next call isn't for three weeks, correct? 14:24:31 From Sam Freedenberg : A: Session 2. Can’t wait to get into my website. 14:24:44 From vickigiuggio : A: Update LinkedIn profile + finalize website 14:24:51 From Phillip : I plan to finish up session 2 during the next week. 14:24:59 From Laird Raymond : A: Send a warm email to someone on LinkedIn 14:25:07 From cbeck : A: Finish Session 1. Finish my WordPress course to get my web site at least started. 14:25:12 From trudyblack : A to keep focused finish sect 2 and send it in for feedback around my silly job that can’t make up their mind if we actually have work 14:25:39 From mariana : Finish session 1 and 2, and also a Draft 2 for a manuscript, and publish my article about critical appraisal of medical literature 14:25:51 From John Fisher : A: Moving on to Session 2 14:26:25 From mariana : Chris: I think you are sending the messages only to me! De Chris Seraidaris para mí: (En privado) (08:25 p. m.)
A: Re-take sessions 1-2. 14:27:00 From vickigiuggio : Thank you! Stay safe everyone 14:27:02 From Sam Freedenberg to Ed Gandia(Privately) : Hi, Susan. Sorry about the doc upload near the beginning. I am using Zoom for other meetings and it is starting to get a bit gummed up—a good argument for simplifying, simplifying. I hope you can remove it before archiving. Have a great 3 weeks! 14:27:20 From Gabrielle : Thanks Susan! Yes everyone stay safe! 14:27:27 From Scott Geesey : Thank you Susan! 14:27:54 From Laird Raymond : Thanks Susan 14:27:57 From mariana : Thank you!
