12:59:56 From vickigiuggio : Hello! 13:00:05 From Matt S : Hi! First coaching call for me. 13:00:17 From Matt S : thanks! 13:00:37 From Gigi's iPhone : Hi thank you! This is Gabrielle btw, Gigi is my nickname :) 13:02:05 From vickigiuggio : A: Hostess in a jewelry store (part time in school) 13:02:34 From Gigi's iPhone : My first job was as a shoe salesperson, when I was in maybe 7th or 8th grade? 13:03:02 From sfreeden : Worked on the highway, Pennsyvania Department of Transportation. Shoveled asphalt, repaired guardrails. 13:03:08 From Gigi's iPhone : yes it motivated me to finish school and not have to go into retail haha 13:05:40 From Gigi's iPhone : W: I managed to get content up on my website using my phone! 13:05:51 From vickigiuggio : W: I am on the precipice of understanding how Squarespace works ….. it’s been a slow week progress-wise (not effort-wise though ha ha ) 13:06:54 From Matt S : W: Got started with B2B launcher program materials yesterday. Finished Intro, on to module 1 later today. 13:07:54 From Gigi's iPhone : Thanks! 13:08:54 From vickigiuggio : I: Building website. My pre-written content is unfortunately being edited as I build but I guess that’s expected…. Almost there! 13:09:14 From John Fisher : I started a few months ago, but I have a full-time job so it's been hard to get started with the program. Just got told I'm no longer essential, so I'm staying home and I have a lot more time to work on materials. 13:09:57 From John Fisher : Mostly just trying to find the motivation to get started. 13:10:00 From Gigi's iPhone : I’m still in the site builder session, since I was able to get some things up. it’s tedious though so I might take a break and switch to the next session since that’ll be content I can listen to. 13:10:06 From vickigiuggio : I can’t help myself! Ha ha. But I am 100% on board (and agree) with your advice 13:15:26 From John Fisher : q Would you say that in times like now, working at home as a copywriter might be a more stable prospect than working in an office. 13:16:18 From vickigiuggio : Q: I won’t have any writing examples to share directly, as they are all under a CDA with clients from my work experience at an agency. I plan to develop a “one pager” for various tactics I’ve worked on describing the objective, etc. Do you think it’s ok to create an abbreviated version on the webpage for now, with the intention of creating a full pdf doc for download in furture? I 13:16:26 From vickigiuggio : *future 13:19:01 From vickigiuggio : Addendum: by CDA, I mean I can’t share the asset 13:23:48 From vickigiuggio : Thx- Ideally, I’d create something that sells me more as a consultant, but in the interest of speed, I’d like to keep it short and broad! 13:24:56 From John Fisher : In my own case I'm a defense contractor working for the government writing classified intelligence reports, so I can't telework with that kind of job. Because of social distancing regulations, I can no longer work because of my non-essential status. However, I have a Master's degree in Adult Education, so I was thinking about ditching the clearance job and moving into online curriculum development and online training. 13:25:26 From John Fisher : Not a question, just a comment. 13:25:37 From vickigiuggio : That is a great idea— you are 100% right., I am fully capable of offering a Strat session. But it didn’t occur to me to offer at this juncture! THANK YOU! 13:26:40 From Gigi's iPhone : Q: I’m jumping the gun a bit on this, since I haven’t gone through the next session, which I believe is on prospecting? But with this new world we’re in I feel less confident about who to approach once my site is done. I feel like the contacts I have might think I’m being tone deaf, and when I consider alllll the small businesses/service firms out there, I’m not sure where to start. Do you have suggestions to make those decisions, or to make the brainstorming process more focused and less overwhelming? 13:26:46 From John Fisher : I do have about three years experience in this area. 13:27:42 From John Fisher : That's good to hear, because a lot of my experience was developing online language training. 13:28:22 From Matt S : Q: Related to Vicki's comment, I have 16 years experience in B2B product marketing. So I'm trying to figure out how to position myself as a marketing consultant who could provide a host of services that could include strategy/planning as well as writing work. But maybe I should start narrow and focus on writing work and defining just writing services - and add the other services down the road? 13:28:30 From John Fisher : using Blackboard 13:36:30 From Matt S : Thanks, starting with a couple areas makes sense. I like the idea of strategy, content, web/online categories! 13:37:11 From Gigi's iPhone : Q: Follow up - I started emailing people in my network before I started the B2B programme, and I’ve reached out to everyone from that initial list I made. would you go back to those people or widen the net to people who I might not know so well, say people from high school, or a person I‘m familiar with but have to find their contact from the internet? 13:37:20 From Matt S : Simplicity is great suggestion - my existing site is a bit of a laundry list that would probably be better pared down 13:40:22 From Gigi's iPhone : oh yes that makes sense. sorry for typos/text confusion! 13:41:50 From Matt S : V: Reminder to start simple 13:42:56 From John Fisher : V: I have a big problem with procrastination, so keeping it simple is one of the best bits of advice I've encountered. 13:44:47 From vickigiuggio : V: The reminder that I am more than just a writer :) , which is ironically copy on my page…. the strategic input I can offer is a differentiator that wasn’t going to even mention but now I think it’s a good idea to point that out as a secondary message. 13:45:13 From vickigiuggio : In the spirit of “keep it simple” the above can read as: confidence boost! thanks 13:46:26 From Laird Raymond : Q: I keep getting the message “This person is outside your network” when I try to connect on LinkedIn. I have no network so how do I make a connection? 13:46:52 From Gigi's iPhone : V: The comment that my site will improve as I have clients. That’s encouraging both for getting things finished now and knowing I will have a concrete, well-informed set of experiences to draw from when it’s time to come back in the future. And same as Matt - stay simple! 13:47:09 From Laird Raymond : I’m stuck in Session 5 13:47:57 From Laird Raymond : Going through the LinkedIn Learning 13:48:43 From Laird Raymond : Yes that would be most helpful 13:49:53 From Laird Raymond : I think my struggle is that I don’t have any former connections in my field 13:50:48 From Laird Raymond : Oh okay… Understand better now 13:50:50 From vickigiuggio : I’ll link in with you, Laird- look me up. My connections might not help you but you never know! Vicki Giuggio 13:51:12 From Laird Raymond : Thanks so much Vicki!!! 13:53:57 From John Fisher : A: Getting started with the program (and beyond) now that I'm staying at home and will be for quite awhile. 13:55:06 From Matt S : A: start (and finish) module 1 (Positioning) 13:55:09 From vickigiuggio : A: Website is main goal, but want to multitask. For instance start a prospect list etc so I will feel more productive when Squarespace frustrates me 13:55:15 From Laird Raymond : A: Getting to courage to put myself out there on FB quicker when I stuck. Joining more LinkedIn Groups. 13:56:04 From Gigi's iPhone : A: Continue plugging away at my site from my phone, but look into the next session as well to give my neck a break haha. 13:56:33 From Gigi's iPhone : Q: I got the free programme Ed shared for finding work. would you look at that now or wait until this programme is done? 13:56:41 From Gigi's iPhone : haha! 13:57:02 From Gigi's iPhone : I think it was...39 something’s? 13:58:02 From Gigi's iPhone : Ok 👍🏾 14:00:27 From vickigiuggio : Thank you! 14:00:46 From Gigi's iPhone : Thank you! 14:00:51 From Laird Raymond : Thanks much!!! 14:00:53 From John Fisher : Yes...thank you! 14:01:00 From Matt S : thank-you!
