I have a meeting with a prospect tomorrow that is interested to hear what types of content marketing materials I can recommend for their company. After doing more research on the business, I think I’m settled on suggesting a monthly case study, highlighting a different customer and product each month (I think something like this would be a perfect fit for them). However, I’ve never done a case study and I want to have something to show them as an example (I think a visual would go further than me just explaining what one is). Can you recommend a good place to find quality case study examples? Also, since I’m just starting out (but it would be great to secure a multi-month contract), I’m thinking of starting with a contract for 6 months @ $800 per case study, with the option to extend to 12 months (with an increase to maybe $1000 per study for the latter have of the year). How does this pricing/contract sound, right-off- bat, to you? Thanks! 13:21:19 From Esther Hodge : Q: I am not having as much success on LinkedIn finding contact information for prospective clients. It seems that people are limiting their information. Is anyone else finding this to be a challenge? 13:21:38 From Ed Gandia : https://b2blauncher.com/requests-from-prospects/ 13:22:16 From stevesimon : Q: I know we only get one formal website review. We are all focused on our own work, so we only look at others for comparison or ideas. I’m wondering if someone else at the same stage as me (reviewed and revising) would want to pair up to do a peer review of the second round? 13:23:08 From Sally : Darn it, have to go now. I'll listen to the rest of the call on replay. Nice to see everyone. 13:26:19 From Shannon Vincent : I think you just answered the majority of my question, through answering Taylors':) 13:28:43 From Alison : Q: I have a wide niche (software and technology) and am feeling a bit overwhelmed/unsure how to start identifying good prospects. I’m wondering if I should start with local companies. Do you think that’s a good way to go? 13:31:40 From Shannon Vincent : Great advice, thanks! I get wrapped up things, stepping back is a bit of an immediate stress reliever:) 13:37:04 From Susan Langmann : Q: Do you have any techniques or ideas on pricing? I am struggling to find price points in my market for various writing materials. 13:37:23 From Esther Hodge : I will go back and review Session 5. Thanks. I need to drop off. Have a great rest of the day! 13:44:14 From zeljko : q: As a beginner, I feel it is much easier to focus on and access small companies (software, IT, tech). Any suggestion based on experience - to go this direction or to include larger companies in prospecting? 13:55:46 From Shannon Vincent : V: Slow down to speed up:) 13:56:11 From John Aucoin : Must run. Thanks Susan. 13:56:18 From Susan Langmann : V : pricing and prospecting (narrowing niche down to avoid being overwhelmed) 13:57:10 From Valicia : V: Confirmation that pricing is a serious guessing game in the beginning 😁 13:57:12 From Alison : V: suggestions for having pricing conversations 14:00:42 From Shannon Vincent : Q: I’ve been getting great feedback through being active on LinkedIn and have just started the free month of Premium. My question is: Should I use ‘InMails’ in the same way as warm emails? Or should these be more of just an introduction-type of letter? 14:04:56 From zeljko : Thanks for the discussion. I finished two pro bono case studies, and I am quite close to arranging the first commercial client. But, I would like to continue prospecting. Thanks for suggestions. 14:05:04 From Alison : Q: when you sent a message to your whole network, did you send it to everyone in one go, or did you send individual messages? 14:09:40 From Shannon Vincent : perfect, thanks! I should have some feedback for the FB group next week. 14:11:06 From Shannon Vincent : Q: One more question from me😊 Do you have any experience with/knowledge of writers having a niche of writing for the government (as government contractors)? I worked for state and federal government (as a field biologist) for over 10 years and was initially thinking of making this my niche but decided against it because I wasn’t sure of the opportunity there. I recently came across an article about becoming a government-contracted freelance writer and almost dropped my coffee! Apparently it IS a thing! Just wondering if you have any additional info about this? It could be a niche I ‘evolve’ into over time or an additional target market to have. 14:14:00 From Shannon Vincent : Okay, thanks. I'll do some more research. Maybe I'll ask in the FB group as well 14:14:32 From Alison : Q: Another quick question! When talking about going to network events, you mentioned that it’s a good thing to do when you have your marketing messages worked out. So it is better to do this before going to these events? 14:15:04 From Shannon Vincent : Great! WBENC was the acronym? 14:15:45 From Alison : Ok, I understand (I’m in session 5) 14:16:08 From Valicia : https://www.wbenc.org 14:17:26 From Shannon Vincent : Thanks for the link, Valicia! 14:17:48 From Valicia : you're welcome! 14:19:21 From Susan Langmann : A: Getting better at using LinkedIn for prospecting 14:19:22 From Valicia : A: actively prospecting 14:19:24 From Alison : A: identifying solid prospects to contact 14:19:51 From Valicia : ha! will do. 14:20:09 From Shannon Vincent : A: Finishing LLC paperwork and continuing to prospect 14:20:29 From Laird Raymond : A: Complete me why me page so I can launch my website 14:20:47 From zeljko : a: continue prospecting 14:21:01 From Laird Raymond : Been here all they time quiet introvert 14:21:41 From Shannon Vincent : Thanks Susan! Wonderful as always! 14:21:45 From Susan Langmann : thank you Susan. Great call 14:21:52 From Alison : Thank you Susan, very useful
